Replacing your doors and windows with Rénoclimat.
The Rénoclimat program from the Government of Quebec offers financial support for those who replace their doors and windows to improve their home’s energy efficiency. To be eligible, the new doors and windows must be ENERGY STAR certified and installed in existing rough openings. The work must also improve the home’s EnerGuide rating after completion. A grant of $150 is provided for each rough opening, meaning that a bay composed of multiple windows is considered a single opening.
Since January 1, 2020, ENERGY STAR criteria have been standardized across Canada, making all models manufactured after that date eligible. For installations carried out before that date, specific criteria based on climate zones apply. It is important to note that the program does not cover the replacement of single panes, sashes, or doors without frames.
To obtain this assistance, an initial energy assessment must first be completed, followed by the renovation work and then a post-work evaluation. The application for financial assistance must include the required documents as well as invoices for the completed work. Additional information can be found in the Participant Guide or on the Rénoclimat website, where it is recommended to check for updates regarding potential changes in criteria and grant amounts. The amounts currently in effect, established since May 1, 2024, apply if the post-work evaluation was completed after that date. If it was carried out before, the assistance will be calculated according to the previous rate grid.
